Next Steps

To fix the issue with some users not having userPrincipalName attribute, we will have to make that sure that Confluence only queries for the user with this attribute. For this, let's go through the following steps.

1. Navigate to General Configuration > User Directories
2. Edit the Directory under consideration (21397506)
3. Under User Schema Settings, adjust User Object Filter: to following,

   (&(objectCategory=Person)(userPrincipalName=*))
   

4. Then edit User Name Attribute: to following,

   userPrincipalName
   

This above setting will only pull users from AD which have have userPrincipalName attribute.
Synchronise the directory and let us know how that goes. If the issue persists, please share a new set of following data.

• <confluence_home>/logs/*
• <confluence_home>/confluence.cfg.xml
• <confluence_install>/logs/*
• <confluence_install>/conf/server.xml
